CA Traffic School

Overview

Mask the Ticket

Take this course if you want to mask a traffic violation and keep it confidential.

Am I Eligible?

You typically take CA traffic school after you get a ticket. You are eligible for traffic violator school if:

  1. You have a valid driver license (normal Class C; not a commercial license *).
  2. You were ticketed for a moving violation (e.g., speeding, red light).
  3. You have not taken traffic school for a ticket you got in the last 18 months (from citation date).
  4. You have paid all fees.

* If you hold a commercial driver license you may be eligible for Traffic Violator School (TVS) if you received the ticket on or after January 1, 2013, you were not driving a commercial vehicle when you received the ticket, and you have a referral from the court to attend TVS.

Note: The court may not order that the record of conviction be kept confidential. However, the conviction shall not be added to a violation point count for purposes of determining whether a driver is presumed to be a negligent operator under Section 12810.5.

How It Works

Get everything done in three easy steps!

  1. Register and Pay.
  2. Complete the course.
  3. Pass the final exam.

1. Register and Pay

Registration and payment are fast and easy! Create a username and password. Use your username and password to access the course as often as you want. Every time you log in, we take you right back to where you left off.

2. Complete the Course

Our course consists of short lessons and includes reading material, animations, videos, and games. You can complete the course at your own pace: a little at a time or all in one sitting. There are no lesson timers!

Validation Questions: During registration, you will be asked to answer several multiple choice questions (for example, "Which of these colors do you like best?"). After each lesson in the course, you will be required to answer one of these questions with the same answer you gave during registration. You must answer 70% of the questions correctly to proceed with the course. Safe2Drive is required to do this to ensure you are indeed taking the course.

3. Pass the Final Exam

At the end of the course is a 25-question, multiple-choice final exam. The exam is open book, meaning you can review the course as you take it.

The California Department of Motor Vehicles allows students two attempts to pass the final exam; however, most students pass the exam the first time.

Safe2Drive does not charge any additional fees to take the final exam a second time. If you happen to fail the final exam twice, the California DMV requires you to start the course over from the beginning. Safe2Drive will not issue refunds for students who fail the final exam twice. You may also enroll in another Traffic Violator School course if you choose to do so rather than starting our course over from the beginning.

We will instantly process your completion to the court electronically after you pass the final exam. We will also email your Receipt of Completion to you for your records. You can also print a copy from your account. Once the court has received and reviewed your completion, they will notify the DMV. The DMV will then mask (hide) the ticket on your driving record. No one, including the insurance companies, will see your ticket. Remember to check with your court 7-10 business days after you complete the course to make sure they have processed your completion!
