About the Course

This course is 6 hours in length, as per Florida HSMV rules. It is broken into short interactive lessons that include videos, animations, and games. At the end of each lesson, you will take a short multiple-choice quiz to test your knowledge of the course material. You must pass each quiz to move on to the next lesson. At the end of the course, there will be a 40-question multiple-choice final exam. You will need to score at least 80% to pass.

Eligibility Requirements

In order to be eligible to take a FL DETS course, you must be at least 14 years old and under age 18.

Note: If you are age 18 or older and looking to qualify for your first Driver's License, you can take our 4-hour FL TLSAE course.

Course Procedures

We've made everything as simple as possible to ensure that this process goes smoothly for you. The steps are as follows:

  1. Register for the course.
  2. Complete the 6 hours of online instruction.
  3. Pass the final exam.
  4. Receive your Receipt of Completion (we will email this to you upon successful completion of the course). We will electronically submit your completion to the FL HSMV as soon as you complete the course.

Getting Your Learner's License

If you are under age 18, you must meet the following requirements to get their Learner’s License:

Driving Restrictions

Drivers with a Learner’s License have the following driving restrictions:

  • You may only drive during daylight hours for the first 3 months after your Learner's License is issued. After 3 months, you can drive until 10 P.M.
  • You must ALWAYS be accompanied by a licensed driver who is age 21+.
  • You must complete 50 hours of supervised driving, 10 hour of which must be at night.

You must hold your Learner’s License for a minimum of 12 months or until your 18th birthday, whichever comes first, before applying for your Driver’s License.
