Everything’s decked out in pink and red hearts and romance is in the air, which could only mean one thing: Valentine’s Day is right around the corner! Now’s the time for engagements and anniversaries--and even first dates! If you’re getting to know someone, you might be looking for some information about their Zodiac sign. Well, you’ve come to the right place! We boiled down some key traits of each sign and aligned them with a category most of us are familiar with: traffic signs. Find the Zodiac sign you’re curious about below to see if they’re giving red light or green light vibes.
Aries
If there’s one thing an Aries loves, it’s competition--and they’re going to win. Aries, you’re a "Slower Traffic Keep Right" sign. Anything below the maximum speed limit is unacceptable--and slower traffic needs to get out of your way.
Aries, remember that the road is for everyone. Driving isn’t a competition, and the only winners are those who follow traffic laws and get to their destination safely.
Taurus
A Taurus values beauty and hard work. Though a little stubborn at times, they are practical, grounded, and determined.
A Taurus is a "Picnic Area" sign. A brown recreation sign, the "Picnic Area" sign alerts drivers to nearby attractions and recreational areas, such as parks or picnic areas. Tauruses are drawn to the natural beauty found along the way, and they appreciate recreation signs for preparing them for what’s ahead.
Gemini
Oh, Geminis. You sometimes get a bad rap for your calculated moves and analytical mind, but you’re also flexible, making it easy for you to adapt to changing situations.
Geminis are a warning sign. The "Children at Play" sign is perfect for the calculated and adaptable Gemini. A Gemini knows to stay alert in residential areas and anywhere children may be around. The "Children at Play" sign warns drivers to slow down and be ready to stop with very little warning. Like a Gemini, this traffic sign requires you to analyze the area around you carefully, and to be ready to adapt your driving to changing situations.
Cancer
Sensitive, protective, and intuitive, Cancerians are in touch with their emotions--sometimes too in touch with their emotions. Cancers are a water sign: a "Turn Around Don’t Drown" sign to be exact. This traffic sign can be found in areas where the road tends to flood in certain conditions, letting drivers know they may need to turn around to avoid driving through deep water.
Drivers who are distracted or unfamiliar with the area may be surprised to come across a flooded road, whereas those who pass through often know how to avoid a flooded area when needed. "Turn Around Don’t Drown" signs give drivers advance notice of flooded areas ahead. This warning gives them the time they need to plan how to avoid the high water.
Cancerians can relate to "Turn Around Don’t Drown" signs in this way. Their moods can quickly change from warm to temperamental, catching people off-guard. On the other hand, Cancers value their friends and family above all else, and those close to them know how to respond when a Cancer’s mood begins to shift. The "Turn Around Don’t Drown" sign tells drivers that there’s danger up ahead, and warns them what could happen if they don’t turn around now.
Leo
The confidence and energy of a Leo is hard to miss--just the way Leos like it! Leos are charming and ambitious, with a flair for the dramatic. While Leos tend to channel their fiery personality into warmth and sunshine, radiating onto those around them, they have a slight tendency to be a little self-centered and even arrogant.
Leo, you’re not a traffic sign at all--you’re a red light!
Here’s the thing about traffic signals: even though everyone wants a green light, the red light is intersection royalty. All eyes are fixed on the red light, waiting for it to change to green. No one is permitted to move forward until the red light says it’s time to move. Red lights, as with the fiery Leo, make sure they’re the center of attention--those who ignore them should beware.
Virgo
No one solves problems quite like a Virgo. With their deeply practical and analytical nature, Virgos are perfectionists who don’t take kindly to those who do not follow the rules. Virgos have an eye for detail and take in everything around them. Their practicality can sometimes make them judgmental, which, when left unchecked, can easily distract them from the task at hand.
The practical Virgo is like a "Zipper Merge" sign. These traffic signs are placed in an area where a road or lane ends or closes ahead. Often when it’s time to merge, drivers will change lanes as soon as possible. This causes confusion as to whose turn it is to merge, which can cause congestion, significant changes in speed, and aggressive driving (e.g., when a driver refuses to let someone merge in front of them).
A zipper merge is more practical and efficient than merging early, though there’s not always a "Zipper Merge" sign posted to remind drivers to stay in their lane until the designated merge point, then take turns moving into the open lane in a zipper pattern. Zipper merging keeps things fair by making sure drivers are taking turns merging into the open lane, rather than trying to squeeze in at the first opportunity. Zipper merging is the practical and safe way to merge--just the way Virgos like it!
Libra
Libras crave balance in all things, and they’ll do whatever they can to achieve that balance. They’re romantics who can charm those around them with their idealist outlook and tendency to surround themselves with beautiful things.
In their attempt to keep the balance, Libras are people pleasers who will do anything they can to avoid a conflict. An expected or risky situation can send a Libra into a tailspin as they scramble make a decision. Libra, you’re a "Four-Way Stop" sign.
Unlike traffic lights, four-way stops require drivers to communicate with each other based on an agreed set of rules to determine who goes first. The rules of right-of-way (i.e., who should stop in order to allow another driver to pass through the intersection) are fair and balanced--when people follow the rules, that is.
The first person to arrive at a four-way stop is permitted to go first. If more than one vehicle arrives at the four-way intersection at the same time, the vehicle on the right must yield (i.e. "give") the right-of-way to the vehicle on the left. This is fair, balanced, and efficient--a Libra’s dream!
If only things always went smoothly. Four-way stops can cause confusion and confrontation if drivers aren’t paying attention. If you hesitate too long, another vehicle may get impatient and decide to go when it’s not their turn. If you yield the right-of-way to everyone in order to avoid conflict, you’ll cause more confusion and potentially anger those waiting behind you.
Drivers should communicate with each other when there seems to be some confusion as to who should go first. Try to make eye contact with the other drivers, and give the driver a little wave to let them know you’re yielding the right-of-way to them. If you accept the right-of-way, a smile and nod lets the other driver know you’re accepting their offer.
Libras, don’t panic when you’re confronted with a decision on the road. Keep calm and communicate with those around you in order to maintain fairness and safety.
Scorpio
You’re a bit of a mystery, Scorpio. You’re in touch with your emotions and passionate about the things that mean the most to you. There’s some intensity to your passion and cunning, and your quick perception time helps you transform to fit any given situation.
Scorpios have an all-or-nothing outlook on life, and their intensity can sometimes manifest as aggression and revenge when left unchecked. Scorpios are a bit like advanced warning signs like a "Deer Crossing" sign. They’re a little mysterious; the presence of a "Deer Crossing" sign doesn’t guarantee that there are deer around, but there’s a strong possibility that there are some nearby.
Advanced warning signs let drivers know that they need to stay alert. When you see a "Deer Crossing" sign, you should slow down a bit and be ready to stop if a deer happens to cross the road ahead of you. Aggressive and egotistical drivers are often frustrated when the vehicles ahead of them begin to slow down, especially if there’s no clear visible reason to do so (e.g., there’s not a deer in the road at this exact moment, so they don’t want to slow down). Quick perception time like that of a Scorpio allows drivers to quickly adjust their driving to adapt to changing conditions when they see an advanced warning sign. Stay alert and avoid confrontations with drivers who lean toward aggression in changing driving conditions.
Sagittarius
Spontaneous and restless, Sagittarians seek adventure and shy away from anything that makes them feel stagnant or tied down. New ideas and places are very attractive to a Sagittarius. Their love of freedom and exploration makes them prone to running a little late!
Sagittarius, you have "Detour" sign energy. "Detour" signs alert drivers to a closed road ahead, and provide an alternative route drivers can follow. Detours can appear spontaneously when there’s an unexpected object blocking the roadway. "Detour" signs can lead to an intense reaction as drivers scramble to change their route. Even so, "Detour" signs can lead you to explore an area you wouldn’t have sought out on your own, turning a routine drive into an adventure.
Capricorn
If you’re lucky enough to have a Capricorn in your life, you’re probably familiar with their ambition and stability. Capricorns are patient and in it for the long haul--they’re getting to their destination no matter how long it takes.
Capricorns are like "Yield" signs. A "Yield" sign lets drivers know that they need to slow down or stop to allow other vehicles or pedestrians go first. "Yield" signs are reliable. You can count on them to appear at many intersections where two roads merge together, roundabouts, and roads with little traffic. Sure, you’ll probably need to slow down when you see a "Yield" sign, but a little patience and determination will help you worry less about how fast you can get somewhere, as long as you get there safely in the end.
Aquarius
Aquarians are quick-witted, unique, and social. The forward-thinking Aquarius is often a humanitarian constantly looking for ways to help others. They might be a little on the stubborn side, but that’s not always a bad thing! Aquarians use the world around them to help analyze a situation. Once they’ve made up their mind, it’s difficult to change it.
Aquarians are unique much like a pedestrian walk signal. The walk signal comes in many different forms depending on the surrounding environment. The walk signal operates like other traffic signals by using a timer to determine when pedestrians have the right-of-way. Many walk signals have a button pedestrians can push, letting the walk signal know someone is waiting. Once the signal chooses "Walk" or "Do Not Cross," it doesn’t matter how many additional times in a row you push the button; it will still cycle through signals at the pace it determines is safest.
Pisces
Dreamy Pisces tend to put the needs of others ahead of themselves. They’re creative and friendly, and though they’re very caring, they sometimes have their heads up in the clouds. This is what makes a Pisces a "Falling Rock" sign. These signs remind drivers that they must stay alert on the roadway in case of unexpected hazards such as falling rocks. Pisces need signs like this, as their daydreamy nature may lead to distraction (e.g., texting while driving). Most of us know that texting and driving is illegal and dangerous, but too many drivers do it anyway. Sometimes it’s because they’re worried about the person texting them or they’re distracted or daydreaming. The "Falling Rock" sign reminds us to stay alert by keeping an eye out for hazards.
At the end of the day, we can all be safe and defensive drivers. It just takes some of us a little more practice than others!
