We’re Approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education
Here at Safe2Drive, our Pennsylvania Driver Education course is approved by the Pennsylvania Department of Education (DOE). If your goal is to earn your unrestricted license before turning 18, our course satisfies the required 30 hours of classroom/theory driver training instruction. You will also need to complete six hours of behind-the-wheel training in addition to our driver education course.
Complete the Course Entirely Online
Maybe you’ve heard that online education isn’t as effective as a traditional face-to-face classroom. This isn’t true! A recent study conducted at Niagara University found that students were able to succeed in an online classroom when given the proper learning materials, and there was no significant difference in performance between online learners and face-to-face learners. Safe2Drive’s online driver education course meets the same DOE requirements as a traditional face-to-face driver education classroom. Our Pennsylvania drivers ed online course will also help you prepare for your Knowledge Test and brush up on Pennsylvania driving laws.
Learn at Your Own Pace
Not only is online learning effective, but it’s also convenient. No need to worry about traveling to a classroom or blocking off time in your day that is convenient for an instructor. You can sit down and work on our course at whatever time of day is best for you. Want to do an hour before school and two hours before bed? Go for it! Our course is split up into 30 lessons that address specific topics and are designed to be completed in short online sessions, so you can fit the course into your busy schedule. Each lesson ends with a review section, followed by a short quiz to help you retain the information you learned. We end the course with a final exam. Most people pass the final exam on their first try, but we offer free unlimited retakes just in case.

We want you to enjoy the time you spend on our course. Per the DOE rules, our course is 30 hours long, and lessons are timed to ensure you meet the 30-hour requirement. To make your learning experience fun, we’ve included informational and instructional videos, games, and interactive multimedia throughout the course. We’ll walk you through what to do in a collision and how to react if your vehicle hydroplanes. You’ll watch videos on the best techniques for steering, and play games that test your knowledge in a fun way. Each lesson is full of interesting and engaging content to make learning to drive an enjoyable experience.
Complete Our Course in Three Simple Steps
The process of completing driver education may feel intimidating. We’re committed to providing excellent customer service and are here seven days a week to answer any questions you may have. We’ve streamlined our course completion process to three steps:
- Register for the course. All you need to do for this is create a username and password, and read some basic information on the course. Easy!
- Complete the online instruction. Like we mentioned above, our 30-hour course is taken completely online and is full of engaging content. It’s split up into 30 lessons, with a 10-question multiple-choice quiz after each lesson. You’ll need to score at least 80% in order to proceed to the next lesson. The lessons will prepare you for the quizzes, but you can retake them as many times as you need. When you complete the final lesson, we’ll collect payment before you can take the final exam. That means you can try out our course for free to see if it’s a good fit for your needs! After we collect payment, you’ll take a 40-question multiple-choice final exam online. You must score at least 80% to pass, which most students do on their first try. If you need extra time to review, no worries. You can retake the final exam again until you pass at no extra cost.
- Get your Certificate of Completion. When you’ve passed the final exam, a licensed instructor will review your course records and issue you a Certificate of Completion within 48 hours of when you pass the exam. The certificate will be emailed to you, and you’ll also be able to print a copy from your Safe2Drive account.
And that’s it! You’ll have satisfied the required 30 hours of classroom/theory driver training instruction, which is one step in the process of earning your unrestricted driver license while under age 18.
