Sacramento Superior Court Locations

The citation the police officer gives you has the address of the court to which your case is assigned. There are two traffic court locations: Carol Miller Justice Center and Gordon D. Schaber Downtown Courthouse. Most traffic cases are handled by the Carol Miller Justice Center, which is located at 301 Bicentennial Circle in Sacramento. The Gordon D. Schaber Courthouse is located at 720 9th Street in Sacramento.

Eligibility for Traffic School

You are eligible for traffic school if your ticket is for a normal traffic violation (e.g., speeding), and you have not attended traffic school in the last 18 months. The court determines your eligibility and will notify you in the courtesy notice or on their web site. Drivers cited for reckless driving or an alcohol-related offense are not eligible. Juveniles (drivers under 18) are eligible if they are cited for most normal violations.

How It Works

You are handed a citation at the time an officer cites you for a violation. The citation has a case number on it as well as the court location to which your case is assigned. A few weeks later you will receive a white courtesy notice in the mail. Contact the court if you do not get this white courtesy notice. For red-light tickets you will receive the courtesy notice along with pictures that identify the car and driver that committed the infraction. The notice contains instructions on how to handle your ticket. Included with the courtesy notice is a list of schools from which you can choose. Choose the traffic school option and send in your paperwork along with your fine. Then complete traffic school.
